Hand Turned Wood
Part of why I created Flying Goat Studios, is to highlight my father’s (David Roberts) amazing hand turned wood pieces! He takes great care and skill to harvest and treat the wood over time before creating one-of-a-kind bowls, charcuterie boards, and dishes. Each piece is detailed, shaped, sometimes inlayed with stone, and finished to bring out the natural lines and patterns of the wood. David Roberts has been turning wood for over a decade, studying under Bill Wallace, and most recently was recognized and received 2nd place for "free turning wood bowls" at the NC State Fair. He loves working and experimenting with different types of hardwoods, and draws upon generations past of woodworkers as he creates his unique pieces.
